Sunny days and typhoons
We've had quite a contrast in weather patterns the past few weeks. During the Obon holiday mid-August, we spent the afternoon at a local beach, swimming with Conan and Leif and building sandcastles.
This past friday we spent the day hunkered inside riding out one of the infrequent typhoons that make it up here in Northern Japan. While we did have gusts of winds up to 100km/hr., there was no major damage or flooding. The Kesen river that runs near our house did get dangerously high for a while, before levelling off by the evening.

I'm glad to know you are all safe and sound. Those videos of the river are pretty alarming. I remember that setting as being so peaceful last spring. Love, mom
Hi Mark, The boys are real cuties! Glad you're all fine. Love, Aunt Helen. PS: Leigh's sending your blog url to someone you should remember from old Temagami days: Julie Bonser. (Married now, with 2 children)
glad you are all safe, must've been a bit scary...i think shel told me about a time when she & taylor & maddie had to go into their cellar in indiana because of a tornado, and that taylor was pulling her hand to get her to hurry, hurry, hurry! unfortunately i believe an entire trailer park was wiped out near them...hugs to you all...
