Happy belated New Year's!

Apologies again, dear readers for depriving you of an update for such a long time. The New Year's holidays have come and gone, and we're back into our regular schedule. Conan is getting ready to move up one 'grade' at the town daycare centre and will be a member of the "apple" group (3 year olds) in April. It will also be time for Leif to enter into the "peach" group (under 2) as well. I'm sure Conan will help him feel at home.

Speaking of Leif, that's something he's been doing a lot of lately. No big sentences as of yet, but lots of single words and babbling to himself. His favourite words at the moment seem to be 'book', which he uses often while holding out our beaten-up copy of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" for me to read to him. Or if perchance I happen to pull it (or "Goodnight Moon") off the bookshelf first and sit down, Leif will get all excited and run across the room to then plop down in my lap to enjoy the time together. Leif has also figured out the word "no" and likes to use it liberally when we try to feed him or get him dressed. It's quite cute; for the moment. :)

Conan is growing into a kind and considerate young boy. He likes to offer his help to Mama and Papa whenever he can, sings and acts out scenes from various educational videos we have including classic "Mr. Dressup" and the newer "Little Einsteins" series. It's also very heartwarming to see how compassionate he has become. If he senses someone is feeling down, he'll come over to give a hug of encouragement or to say "I love you." Recently, during a bedtime story of my custom version of "The Three Little Pigs" (in which the wolf doesn't get any pigs and has to go back to the forest hungry) Conan announced to me that it wasn't very nice that the poor wolf had to go home without any food, and requested that I alter the ending such that the three pigs would make him some lunch.

Here's Conan in last month's daycare concert. Conan's class performed a few numbers and seemed to have a fun time doing it. The first song is about "liking sweets", hence the costumes.
